They are on call for emergency cases on alternate days. Ask at your hotel reception or at the pharmacy to find out which hospital is on call on a particular day. Bus services Kokkini Hani is served by regular bus routes connecting Heraklion city with towns in the east of Crete. Timetables vary with the season, but buses run between Kokkini Hani and Heraklion at least every half hour throughout the day. Petrol stations There are two petrol stations in Gournes, about one kilometre along the main road to the east of Kokkini Hani. In the direction of Heraklion, the first petrol stations are in Karteros, about 6 kilometres distant. Car repairs Close to the Shell petrol station on the main road in Gournes is a car repair shop run by a lone but talented mechanic called Spiros Horafakis. Spiros speaks English and will carry out expert mechanical repairs. For tyres and electrical repairs you will need to go to Heraklion. (Note that this separation of types of car repair is standard throughout Greece.) |
